Robert Connor & Loretta Yurrick

Robert Connor and Loretta Yurick are acclaimed multidisciplinary artists and key figures in the development of contemporary dance in Ireland. As founders and Artistic Directors of Dance Theatre of Ireland (est. 1989), they have created over 30 original works that explore human strength and fragility, often incorporating original music, design, and digital technologies. Their performances have toured extensively across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and featured at major international festivals.

They are also pioneers in dance education, founding the Centre for Dance in Dun Laoghaire and launching DANCE POP, Ireland's largest dance outreach programme, which has reached over 70,000 participants. Their work spans all age groups, from young children to seniors, and includes innovative programs like NATURE MOVES. They co-founded Dublin Youth Dance Company (DYDC) to train young dancers and have collaborated with numerous international choreographers and artists.

Both hold degrees in Psychology and Urban Studies, and their contributions to dance have been widely recognized, including praise from former Irish President Mary McAleese. They also played a foundational role in what is now Dance Ireland.
